Over the last 21 years I have taught students to weld by having them huddle around me and telling them to “cover” or my coined phrase “ watch your eyes”. The student drops their hood and weld begins. Once completed I talk about the results. I ask if there are any questions and usually there are some but not many. The students are then given the opportunity to go to their booths and attempt to do what I just demonstrated.

Why do we think this is the most effective way to teach a new welder how to weld? please share any comments you have.
