This study positions welding as a test case for the application of AI-assisted instructional systems, leveraging machine learning, generative AI, and large language models to provide adaptive feedback and personalized training. By integrating these technologies into welding education, the project establishes a broader research agenda around adaptive learning in skilled trades. The outcomes are intended not only to enhance trainee performance in welding but also to lay a foundation for future innovation in STEM workforce education, where AI-driven systems can support scalable, individualized learning across technical domains.
